The US has thousands of digital marketing agencies, and nearly all of them call themselves “results-driven.” That tells you nothing, which is exactly why picking one is so hard.
So we skipped the slogans. We compared 10 established US agencies on what they actually do, who they work best for, how big they are and what working with them is likely to cost.
Here’s the fastest way to use this post. Scan the comparison table for a shortlist, then read the profiles of the two or three agencies that match your goals, budget and industry.
Disclosure: IndeedSEO publishes this list and is one of the agencies in it. We applied the same criteria to every agency, ourselves included, and linked to each agency’s own website so you can check the details yourself.
How Did We Choose These Agencies?
Each agency had to meet all five criteria:
- US presence: an office or headquarters in the United States.
- Track record: at least 5 years in business, with named clients or published case studies.
- Independent reviews: verified reviews on platforms such as Clutch, G2 or Google.
- Clear specialty: a well-defined focus, such as B2B paid media, SEO or full-service marketing.
- Transparency: services and contact details that are easy to find, plus a realistic idea of pricing or minimum project size.
We also noted the type of business each agency suits best, because the best agency for a SaaS company is rarely the best one for a local service business.
Last reviewed: October 2026. Agency details change often, so confirm pricing and services directly with each agency.

-
IndeedSEO
Website: indeedseo.com | HQ: Mohali, India, with a US office in Helotes, TX | Founded: 2012 | Team: 250+
If you want SEO-led growth without a big-agency invoice, this is the agency we built for that.
IndeedSEO started in 2012 with a team of 50 and now has more than 250 people. It is based in Mohali, India, with offices in Helotes, Texas and Dubai, and serves clients in the USA, UK, UAE, Australia and 30+ other countries.
Its core services are SEO and AI SEO, local SEO, link building, PPC, social media, online reputation management and web design. It also runs a white-label program for agencies that resell SEO under their own brand. A large team in India keeps prices lower than most US-based agencies.
For cloud provider Apps4Rent, a mix of AI-led SEO and Google Ads grew organic traffic by 190% and qualified leads by 135%. Other case studies cover Moneytree Realty and Colors Queen Cosmetics.
- Pricing: SEO packages from $129. Digital marketing packages from $999 (Pro), $1,399 (Growth) and $1,899 (Enterprise).
- Best for: small and mid-size businesses that want affordable, SEO-led growth.
- Where it shines: low published prices, SEO depth, a large team and a white-label option for agencies.
- Worth knowing: most of the team works from India, so check time-zone overlap and who your day-to-day contact will be. It also puts less focus on brand creative than large US full-service agencies.
-
Impactable
Website: impactable.com | HQ: San Antonio, TX / Cape Coral, FL (sources differ) | Founded: 2020
If your sales team works from a defined list of target accounts, Impactable is built for that.
It is a B2B advertising agency best known for LinkedIn Ads. Founder Justin Rowe started it in 2020 as LinkNLearn, and it is listed in LinkedIn’s Marketing Partner directory. Its work centres on reaching specific decision-makers at target accounts rather than broad audiences.
The agency also offers programmatic B2B ads and website visitor identification, so clients can see which companies visit their site and retarget them.
- Services: LinkedIn Ads, B2B paid media, programmatic, visitor identification.
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Where it shines: deep LinkedIn specialism and strong B2B targeting.
- Worth knowing: the focus is narrow, so it’s not a fit for SEO, local or B2C campaigns.
-
Smartboost
Website: smartboost.com | HQ: San Diego, CA | Founded: 2015
Smartboost suits tech companies that already have product-market fit and want to grow the pipeline efficiently.
It is a growth marketing agency with offices in San Diego and Los Angeles, working mainly with technology companies, startups and SaaS businesses. It combines SEO and content with paid social, email and conversion rate optimization. The approach is built around growth experiments: test channels and messages quickly, then scale what works.
- Services: SEO, content marketing, paid social, email, SEM, CRO.
- Notable clients: GoPro and Cabrella Shipping Insurance (listed on its Semrush agency profile).
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Where it shines: growth focus and a strong fit for tech and SaaS.
- Worth knowing: less suited to local or traditional businesses.
-
Thrive Internet Marketing Agency
Website: thriveagency.com | HQ: Arlington, TX | Founded: 2005
Thrive is the pick when you’d rather have one agency than manage five specialists.
It began in 2005 as a one-person business and has grown into a full-service agency with offices across the US. It has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies several times. Thrive covers almost every channel: SEO, PPC, social media, web design, email and reputation management.
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Best for: small and mid-size businesses wanting one full-service partner.
- Where it shines: broad service range, many US offices and a long track record.
- Worth knowing: a large client roster can mean less senior attention on smaller accounts.
-
Mad Fish Digital
Website: madfishdigital.com | HQ: Portland, OR | Founded: 2006
Mad Fish is the one to look at if your values are part of how you market.
It is a Certified B Corp, which means it meets independent standards for social and environmental impact. In 2024 it acquired Grady Britton, a Portland branding agency, adding brand strategy and creativity to its digital services. It focuses on SEO, content, paid media and analytics, and tends to work with education, healthcare and nonprofit organisations.
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Where it shines: values-led approach, strong content and SEO, and in-house branding.
- Worth knowing: the team is small (around 45 people), so capacity for very large programs may be limited.
-
Directive
Website: directiveconsulting.com | HQ: Irvine, CA | Founded: 2014
Directive is for B2B software companies that need marketing tied directly to pipeline and revenue.
It is a performance marketing agency that works almost only with B2B software and tech companies. It was co-founded by CEO Garrett Mehrguth and has added offices in cities including New York, Austin and London. Its “Customer Generation” approach measures success by sales-qualified leads and new customers, not clicks or marketing-qualified leads.
- Services: paid search and social, SEO, content, CRO, video.
- Pricing: not published. Typically aimed at funded B2B software companies.
- Where it shines: deep SaaS expertise and revenue-focused reporting.
- Worth knowing: it is built for funded tech companies, so it is likely too expensive or specialised for small or local businesses.
-
Straight North
Website: straightnorth.com | HQ: Downers Grove, IL (Chicago area) | Founded: 1997
Straight North brings nearly three decades of experience to B2B lead generation.
It is one of the longest-running agencies on this list and concentrates on mid-size companies in manufacturing, industrial and professional services. Its SEO, PPC and website work is aimed at qualified sales leads, and it is known for screening leads so clients can see which inquiries are real sales opportunities.
- Services: SEO, PPC, web design and development, content.
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Where it shines: decades of B2B experience and a strong lead-quality focus.
- Worth knowing: less emphasis on social and brand campaigns.
-
Disruptive Advertising
Website: disruptiveadvertising.com | HQ: Pleasant Grove, UT | Founded: 2011-2012
If you’re already spending on ads and want better returns, start here.
Founded by CEO Jacob Baadsgaard, Disruptive is one of the best-reviewed paid media agencies in Utah. Its core strengths are Google Ads, paid social and conversion rate optimization. It usually starts with an audit of an existing ad account to find wasted spend before scaling campaigns.
- Services: PPC, paid social, CRO, email, analytics.
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Where it shines: paid media specialism and strong CRO.
- Worth knowing: less suited to businesses that mainly want SEO or organic growth.
-
Intero Digital (formerly SocialSEO)
Website: interodigital.com | HQ: Colorado Springs, CO | Founded: 2008 (as SocialSEO) | Team: 350+
Intero suits mid-size brands that want a large, multi-channel team under one roof.
Greg Walthour founded SocialSEO in Colorado Springs in 2008. In January 2023 it renamed itself Intero Digital, combining five specialist agencies under one brand. Walthour is now co-CEO, and the group has more than 350 people. It offers SEO, social media, PPC, content and web development, and its size means it can take on larger, multi-channel programs.
- Pricing: not published. Ask for a quote.
- Where it shines: large team, broad services and a long SEO history.
- Worth knowing: it’s a bigger group, so ask which team will actually run your account.
HQ: New York, NY (offices in Chicago and Seattle) | Team: ~150 (estimate)
Blue Fountain is the choice for large website builds rather than ongoing marketing.
It is a New York agency known for website design, development and digital strategy. Technology firm Pactera bought it in January 2016, and it is now part of Pactera EDGE, which was spun off after Pactera’s 2020 sale. - Services: web design and development, UX, digital strategy.
- Pricing: project-based, not published.
- Where it shines: enterprise web expertise and a large technical team.
- Worth knowing: it is now part of a larger technology group, and we found no recent news from the brand itself.

How much does a digital marketing agency cost in the USA?
Most US agencies charge a monthly retainer, a project fee or a percentage of ad spend. What you pay depends on the channels, the size of the team and how competitive your market is.
| Service | Pricing model | Typical US range |
|---|---|---|
| Basic retainer (one or two channels) | Monthly | $500–$2,500 per month |
| Mid-level retainer | Monthly | $2,500–$5,000 per month |
| High-end / full-service retainer | Monthly | $5,000–$10,000+ per month |
| SEO audit | One-off project | $1,000–$5,000 |
| Content marketing campaign | Project | $2,000–$10,000+ |
| Website design or redesign | Project | $2,500–$10,000+ |
| PPC management | % of ad spend or flat fee | Varies by ad budget |
These ranges match IndeedSEO’s guide to the cost of hiring a digital marketing agency. Larger agencies usually charge more: about $1,000–$5,000 a month for a small agency and $5,000–$20,000+ for a large one.
How to choose the right agency
- Start with your goal. More leads, more online sales and more brand awareness each call for a different specialist.
- Match the agency to your industry and size. An agency built for funded SaaS companies is rarely right for a local plumber, and the reverse is also true.
- Ask for case studies in your industry, with real numbers such as leads, revenue or cost per acquisition, not just traffic.
- Meet the people who will run your account, not only the sales team.
- Check the reporting. You should see results tied to leads and revenue, at least monthly.
- Read the contract. Look at minimum terms, notice periods and who owns your ad accounts, website and content.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Who will work on my account day to day, and how much of their time do I get?
- What results did you get for a business like mine, and how long did they take?
- Which tools and reports will I have access to?
- What happens to my accounts and content if we stop working together?
Red flags
- Guaranteed #1 rankings on Google
- Long lock-in contracts with no performance review
- Reports that only show traffic or impressions, never leads or sales
- Vague answers about which tactics they use, especially for link building
- Ad accounts set up in the agency’s name instead of yours
The bottom line
The right agency is the one that fits your goal, industry and budget, not the one with the biggest name. Shortlist two or three from the table above, ask each for case studies in your industry, and compare how they report results.

FAQs
What is the best digital marketing company in the USA?
There isn’t one best agency for everyone. Directive and Smartboost suit SaaS and tech companies. Disruptive Advertising suits brands focused on paid ads. IndeedSEO and Thrive suit small and mid-size businesses that want organic growth.
How much does it cost to hire a digital marketing agency in the US?
Most agencies charge a monthly retainer, usually $500–$2,500 a month for basic work and $5,000–$10,000+ for high-end, full-service work. Paid ads are often managed for a percentage of ad spend. See the pricing table above.
Should I hire an agency or build an in-house team?
An agency gives you a full team of specialists for less than the cost of hiring several people. In-house works better once you have a steady budget and need daily, brand-specific work. Many companies do both.
How long does it take to see results?
Paid ads can bring leads within weeks. SEO usually takes 3 to 6 months to show clear results, and longer in competitive markets.
What contract length is normal?
Many agencies ask for 3 to 12 months. Look for a clear notice period and a performance review point, not an open-ended lock-in.
What should a digital marketing agency report on?
Leads, sales or revenue, cost per lead or acquisition, and the work done that month. Traffic and impressions alone are not enough.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
